Two gold, two silver and a bronze for team Antigua and Barbuda at Carifta Swimming Championships

As action continued at the 2024 Carifta Swimming Championships on Sunday in the Bahamas, Boys 11-12 competitor, Alessandro Bazzoni, became Antigua and Barbuda’s fifth medallist at the event, winning silver in the 400 meters Individual Medley.

The young athletes clocked a time of 5:48.65 (five minutes and 48.65 seconds) to add to the country’s medal count heading into Monday’s final day.

Former junior sportswoman of the year, Ellie Shaw and Anya DeGannes had both previously won gold on Saturday’s opening day while there was silver for Madison MacMillan and bronze for 2018 Sportsman of the Year, Stefano Mitchell.

Shaw captured gold in the 200 meters breaststroke with a winning time of 2:39.13 while DeGannes outswam her opponents in the 100 meters butterfly in a winning time of 1:08.60 for her gold medal. MacMillian’s silver came in the 800 meters freestyle in a time of 9:34.20 while Mitchell won his bronze in the 100 meters butterfly with a time of 57:13.
