An elderly man was found dead in a house opposite St John’s Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
A neighbour identified the deceased as Vernon Potter, more commonly known as ‘Home Boy’.
There were reports that a woman tried to gain access to the house on Monday, but was unable to because the door was locked.
Additionally, a man who also occasionally resides there was seen on the front porch.
However, a gentleman who was stopping by to deliver some goods for Potter pushed the door open and called the police after discovering the body yesterday morning.
Trevor Martin, a driver with Straffie’s Funeral Home, said they were alerted to the discovery at about 8.40am.
He estimated that Potter could have been deceased for more than three days.
Police have been approached for comment.
