Old Road stay unbeaten in top flight as Potters, Bolans and Earthquake win in lower tiers

Former champions Old Road FC were 2-1 winners over Ottos Rangers as they continue to occupy the number two position in the Antigua and Barbuda Football Association’s (ABFA) Premier Division with a perfect 15 points from five matches.

Former national striker Stefan Smith opened the scoring for Old Road in minute 21 to send his team into the first half interval as one-nil leaders in the match, contested Tuesday at the FA’s technical center. Raheem Deterville put Old Road two-nil up on minute 70. Rangers pulled a goal back nine minutes later when Mark Portsmouth struck in the 79th minute.

The loss was Rangers’ first in five showings as they remain on eight points and sixth on the 16-team standings.

Meanwhile in the First Division, Potters Tigers jumped to second on the standings with 12 points after six showings following a 2-1 win over Fort Road at Radio Range.

Joshua Daniel scored both goals for Potters with strikes in minutes 50 and 78 while Ezekiel Thomas scored Fort Road’s only goal in minute 50. The loss was Fort Road’s fourth in six matches as they remain on six points.

Also in the First Division, Bolans defeated Young Lions by a slim 4-3 margin in an exciting encounter played at Jennings.

National cricketer Taiem Tonge scored a brace for the victors, scoring in minutes six and 76. There were single strikes from Alex Joseph in minute 87 and Jaric Richards in minute 90. For Young Lions, Geraldo Browne scored in minute 48, Jolan Willock in minute 56 and Zavier Joseph in minute 68.

It was Bolans’ first win in five matches as they move to four points while Young Lions are yet to get off the mark after five showings.

In the lone Second Division clash on Tuesday, Earthquake FC dominated Abaya to win 5-1.

Joumol Semper scored a hattrick while Roan Harris netted twice. D’Andre Nicholas scored the lone goal for Parham.
