History has been made for Antigua and Barbuda in the athletics field as two young female sprinters are currently ranked number one and two in the world after posting world-leading times in the Girls Under 18 200m category.

Ranked number one with an outstanding time of 23.40sec is LaNica Locker of the Ottos Comprehensive School (OCS).

The towering sprinter who hails from the PSE Track Club, achieved that time on February 5 during the Antigua and Barbuda Athletics Association’s (ABAA) 3rd Development Meet Series.

Locker was not done there as she is also ranked number three in the world in the Girls under 18 100m with a time of 11.78sec.

The other athlete is Geolyna Dowdy who finished second to Locker on Sunday with a time of 23.92sec.

She joins her compatriot on the world ranking podium at the number two spot in the Girls Under 18 200m.

The Princess Margaret School (PMS) student who hails from the Phoenix Track Club is also ranked number five in the Girls Under 18 100m with a time of 11.84sec.

Antigua now boasts two of the top five ranked spots in the world in both sprints (100m/200m) in the U18 events.
