Jennings United begin second round campaign with dominant win

The second round of the Antigua and Barbuda Football Association (ABFA) Second Division kicked off this week with frontrunners Jennings United recording a 4-1 victory over FC Master Ballerz at the Golden Grove playing field on Wednesday.

Shaquille Watkins got the ball rolling for the victors by scoring as early as the 10th minute of play.

Kevon Samuel followed that up with a strike in minute 37 and John-Pierre Williams in minute 48.

Daryl Massimo scored the final goal for he round south team in the 75th minute, while the lone goal for Master Ballerz came from Kerland Ferdinand in the 79th minute.

United now move to 39 points atop the 15-team table, while Master Ballerz remain on 24 points in the sixth position.

Blackburn Palace FC also earned a win that day, edging out Real Blizzard FC 1-0 at New Winthorpes.

Donald Lumsden scored the winning goal in minute 31.

They now move to 12th place with nine points.

In the other games played that day, Bethesda FC and CPTSA Wings SC drew 1-1, while ABAYA FC and Young Warriors FC played to a two-all draw.

A day later in the First Division matches, John Hughes FC defeated Green City FC, 2-0. Garcel Morrison (47th) and an own goal from Commarley Joseph in the 59th minute pushed the victors to 33 points behind frontrunners Garden Stars.

Lion Hill FC were the other team to record a win edging out West Ham FC, 1-0.

Tequaine Teague (24th) scored the winning goal for Lion Hill.

Meanwhile, in the other matches played that afternoon, Fort Road FC and Police FC played to a two-all draw, while JSC Progressors FC and Bendals FC settled for a one-all draw.

Potters Tigers FC and Bolans FC also played to a one-all draw.
