Govt denies int'l media reports regarding IMF and Antigua & Barbuda

The Government’s Chief-of-Staff Lionel ‘Max’ Hurst says the Prime Minister has not asked the IMF nor any group to make representation on the government’s behalf for a moratorium on the country’s loan payments to the lending agency.
Earlier this week several on-line news sites quoted another site, Courtroom News as saying that “The IMF refuses to Discuss Barbuda’s Debt After Hurricane Irma”.
But Hurst says the Gaston Browne-administration has not made overtures to the IMF and therefore wasn’t even aware of the discussion that allegedly took place. 
Courtroom News has also reported that Antigua and Barbuda owes the IMF three million US dollars.
Hurst says that’s not true.
Meanwhile, he says prime minister Gaston Browne is due to leave the country tomorrow for the United Nations.
Browne will be in New York for about four days soliciting resources for the rebuilding of Barbuda.
Hurst says Browne has a meeting planned with several Commonwealth Prime Ministers, including the leader of Canada.
