Fight leaves teen in a coma

Source: winnfm.com

Fourteen-year-old Devonte James is in a coma at the Mount St. John’s Medical Centre following a fight with another boy yesterday.

Sherma Shervington says the doctors have put her son in the coma. She adds that the doctors are hoping the brain surgeon will arrive in Antigua by Monday.

She says they have said Devonte will remain in the coma until whenever the surgeon arrives.

Meantime, the mother says the police have not contacted her about the incident. She also tells OBSERVER media that she hopes her son will get justice.

She says the hospital has told her the treatment will be costly. And she says that if she has to foot the bill, she will need help doing so.
