Flyers Basketball clinched a close win over Ovals Ojays.

Flyers Basketball clinched a two-point win over defending champions Ovals Ojays, winning the contest 69-67 on Thursday night to hand Ojays their second loss in the Antigua and Barbuda Basketball Association (ABBA) Division One competition in the space of a week.

The teams were closely matched throughout the contest at the JSC basketball court with Flyers clinching the first quarter 15-14 before dominating the second quarter 22-13. The defending champions rebounded to take the third quarter 19-14 before claiming the fourth and final quarter 21-18.

The last ditch efforts were however not enough to get them over the hump.

Selassie Brathwaite led the charge with 20 points and five rebounds while Xavier Meade contributed with 15 points and seven rebounds. David Hernandez sank 14 points and grabbed six rebounds off the bench.

In a losing effort, Kareem Edwards hit 21 points and pulled 11 rebounds while Alexis Jackson added 19 points and picked up 16 rebounds. Joshua Minner contributed with 14 points.

Meanwhile, Potters Steelers kept their winning streak alive with a third straight triumph, dominating Braves Basketball 104-56.

Steelers dominated all four quarters of the game, claiming the first quarter 20-8, winning the second 29-20 before taking the third and fourth quarters 23-18 and 32-10 respectively.

Lindsay McDonald led the scoring for Steelers off the bench with 27 points while Cohen DeSouza contributed with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Bernard Andrew was best on show for Braves with 10 points and 14 rebounds.
