Emmanuel leads Spanish Heat past Cristos United while Jules’ 31 propels Court Martials in basketball’s Division 2

Spanish Heat and Rebels were comfortable winners in Division 2 of the Antigua and Barbuda Basketball Association (ABBA) competition when action continued at the JSC basketball complex on Monday night.

Contesting the opening game of a double-header, Spanish Heat were 70-54 winners over Cristos United, winning the contest by 16 points. Spanish Heat dominated the first two quarters in the contest, outscoring their opponents 12-9 and 33-13. Cristos United however rebounded to outscore the eventual winners in the final two quarters by margins of 12-8 and 20-17.

Jesus Emmanuel led the scoring for Spanish Heat, sinking a game high of 28 points on 12 of 20 shooting while also grabbing 13 rebounds. He had help from Ismael Palemo who scored 16 points and picked up 13 rebounds off the bench.

In a losing effort, Dorian James sank 12 points while Derryck John and Dwayne Samuel each scored 10 points. Samuel also picked up 10 rebounds.

In the night’s feature clash, Court Martials outscored Rebels 80-72 to win by eight points.

After losing the opening quarter 20-15, Court Martials rebounded to take the next three quarters 25-21, 15-12 and 25-19.

De-Lornge Jules led the way for Court Martials with a game high of 31 points and 10 rebounds while Baldwin Anthony chipped in with 19 points and 14 rebounds off the bench. Victor Horseford contributed to the winning effort with 12 points.

Zuri Nesbitt and Buell Henry led the charge for Rebels with 20 points each with Henry also grabbing 16 rebounds and Nesbitt pulling eight. Tyndale Telemaque chipped in with 15 points.
