In partnership with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Courts Optical, and Medical Benefits Scheme (MBS), the ABRCS led a community heath fair on the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints grounds on Independence Drive.
Over 150 persons received eye examinations, blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar screening and received the necessary counseling from a highly qualified health care team which included doctors, medical students, nurses and EMTs.
The activity was borne out of a robust partnership between the ABRCS and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and their collective resolve to improve the public health system through proactive measures such as early screening and preventative approaches.
The organizers have agreed on future collaborations that will no doubt capture useful statistical data and enhance the national health care system.
The ABRCS receives a Generous Donation from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
For years the ABRCS has battled with a spate of break-ins and loss and damage to property.
These break-ins escalated and became more targeted after March 2022 when the National Society’s mobile generator that supports the ABRC’s mobile clinic mysteriously disappeared, only to reappear months after when a report was made to the police.
With the strengthening of its security systems including the installment of access control units, surveillance cameras and aluminum security doors, windows and shutters, the focus of theft moved to the garage and warehouse that houses the newly launch state of the art clinic and relief supplies for beneficiaries and disaster response.
Within months of its return, the generator again went missing, bringing to a halt the National Society’s mobile clinic operations that support many national and private activities, disaster management activities and health screening programs.
Thanks to a generous donation from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, who made a timely donation of a generator the mobile clinic operations have been restored.
By extension, the ABRCS’s disaster and health response capacity, and beneficiaries and volunteer development programs will now continue unhindered, bringing the National Society back in full alignment with its mandate as an auxiliary to public authority.
The ABRCS expresses its sincerest appreciation to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and thank the institution for its generosity and partnership.
