Weekes smashes three-point record

Less than a month after Humroy Wright of Anjo’s Wholesale created history by scoring 24 three-pointers in a single game, Kennedy’s Lincoln Weekes proved that records are meant to be broken as the youngster scored a staggering 27 three-point bombers on Wednesday night. This occured in the Cool and Smooth Antigua and Barbuda Basketball Association (ABBA) Business league.
Weekes, who netted 8 three-pointers in the first half, left JSC in a frenzy making it rain in the second half with a remarkable 19 threes.
The national junior player and 2018 ABBA Division 2 League MVP ended the encounter with 93 points overall just 10 points shy of tying the 103 record for the most points in a single game which is held by Sandals’ Devorn Benjamin.
Kennedys also etched their name into the history books as the team recorded the highest points ever in a single game winning the match, 141-35 against Rackaman Cleaners.
Teammates, Xavier “Xman” Meade, and Danny Perez chipped in, scoring 12 and 10 points respectively.
Cleaners’ Franklyn “Spiderman” Corbett sank 18 points.
Dixie edged out Antigua and Barbuda International Institute of Technology (ABIIT) 68-65 in the feature match of the quadruple header evening.
Despite a 16-point effort by Michael Barton and Michael Gunthropes, ABIIT could not get over the hump.
Dixie’s Nigel “Snarks” Joseph led the victors with 21 points.
He was assisted by Kirwan Peterson who had 16 and Kelvyn Pimental, 13.
In the other matches played that night, APUA Head Office defeated APUA Water, 71-42 while Blue Waters went under to Eye Mobile 69-61.
Delornje Jules had 16 points for Head Office while Iornie Joseph sank 17 for the watermen.
Eye Mobile’s Daryl Goodwin had a game high 25 points while Ishaan Peets netted 22 for Blue Waters.
