A broker and a boat repairman were in police custody up to last night being questioned in connection with drugs found in an Amerijet Airlines cargo storage room on Monday.
They were held because they had started making enquiries about clearing the packages in which the marijuana was found some time after the flight arrived at 5 p.m., Monday.
That’s according to sources close to the matter, who also said that investigations are continuing to find the person to whom the items were sent. The packages also contained baby wipes and adult pampers.
Dogs from the Police K-9 Unit detected the four pounds of compressed cannabis valued $16,000.
In an unrelated incident, earlier in the day (Monday), at about 12:30 p.m., the K-9 Unit, working along with the Criminal Investigations Department and Customs Officers, also detected drugs in five packages – three boxes and two bags.
