Sing scores first century of Sherma Jackson Softball Competition to lead TG Welding to huge victory

Martin Sing scored the first century of the Cool & Smooth MPL Sherma Jackson Business League 10 Overs Softball Competition, as TG Welding defeated Grill Box by 103 runs at the Potters playing field on Sunday.

Sing slammed nine fours and 11 sixes on his way to 111, more than half of his team’s 189 for three off their 10 overs. Delon Wills contributed with 24 to the total. Shawn Bolgobin picked up two wickets for 38 runs in a losing effort.

Grill Box were then restricted to just 86 for seven in their chase with Hezekiah Weston hitting a top score of 36. Wills was the pick of the bowlers for TG Welding, claiming two wickets for four runs in one over while Visal Gobin snatched two for 14 in two overs.

Sing was named male player of the match with Kimberly Anthony the female player of the match.

Also, on Sunday, Time of Victory defeated Living Styles by 65 runs.  Batting first, Time of Victory posted 115 for six off 10 overs with Demetri Lucas hitting a top score of 52 and Essan Warner added 34. Steve Martin snatched two wickets for 15 runs in two overs.

Living Styles fell short of the target at 50 for nine off their 10 overs. Shaquan Reifer top scored with 20 runs while there were two wickets each for Michael Greaves and Kenroy Browne. Lucas and Menova Govia were male and female players of the match.

In the other match contested Sunday, Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force defeated AFBAHLUR United by 24 runs.

Asked to bat, Defence Force posted 95 all out in their 10 overs with Edwin Jackson hitting 24.

Monique Titus grabbed three wickets for one run in two overs. There were two wickets for Rodney Williams.

When their turn at the crease arrived, AFBAHLUR United could only get to 71 in 8.4 overs with Melique Jacobs hitting a top score of 22. Edwin Jackson claimed three wickets for 18 runs while T’ron Payne picked up two for four in one over.

Jackson and Monique were male and female players of the match.
