Old Road FC were the lone winners in the Antigua and Barbuda Football Association (ABFA) Premier Division competition on Boxing Day, edging John Hughes FC 1-0 when they met at the FA’s technical centre on the Sir Sydney Walling Highway.

The victory, Old Road’s fourth in as many matches, was secured by a 69th minute conversion from national player Raheem Deterville as the round south men moved to the top of the standings with 12 points.

The loss was John Hughes’ second in four matches as they remain on six points and eighth on the 16-team standings.

Also on Tuesday, Ottos Rangers and SAP FC played to a 3-3 draw in the day’s opening clash.

Rangers went ahead in the opening minute via an own-goal after Timothy Sanasie inadvertently put the ball into the back of his own net. SAP drew level three minutes later when Emeson Henry struck from close range.

Rangers then jumped ahead in minute 32 via a Manuel Emilio Arias strike before Josue Arias made it 3-1 in the 45th minute. Veteran striker Peter Byers pulled SAP within one in minute 63 before Tyrique Tonge secured a point for SAP in minute 90.

SAP’s Roderick Williams was red-carded in minute 72 for using insulting and abusive language and or gestures.

Rangers move to eight points from four showings and fifth on the standings while SAP edge to seven points and seventh on the standings.

In Tuesday’s other contest, All Saints United and Pigotts Bullets played to a scoreless draw. United are sixth with seven points while Bullets move to four points and ninth on the standings.
