A 23-year-old man named DeSonte Barton, who was attacked during the J’ouvert Street Jam in Pointe yesterday morning, has been released from the hospital.

Barton, a resident of Grays Farm, arrived at the hospital with multiple stab wounds, including injuries to his right jaw, right shoulder, left hand, and nostril.

According to Barton’s statement to the police, he had visited the Pointe community for the J’ouvert celebration.

While walking near the Escape Bar, he was suddenly attacked by seven males, all dressed in hoodies and ski masks.

The assailants, armed with a cutlass, inflicted multiple wounds on Barton before fleeing the scene.

Barton was unable to identify his attackers. Reports, however, suggest that a group of boys between the ages of 11 and 14 were seen brandishing weapons during the event.

The incident has started yet another discussion on the surge in youth violence.

The discussion veered toward the use of marijuana when residents called into Observer AM this morning.
