Lion Hill ends Bendals winning streak, Harbour mauls 5P’s

Bendals FC suffered their first loss of the 2019/20 Football Association’s domestic season when they crashed to a 2-1 loss at the hands of Lion Hill FC in Zone B of the Second Division at the Golden Grove playing field on Tuesday.

Cassel Southwell had given the home team the advantage in minute 42 before Bendals drew level in the 58th minute via a penalty kick from Ken Murray.

It was however, destined to be Lion Hill’s day as Renford Harris restored his team’s lead in the 72nd minute and pushed Lion Hill to their ninth victory in 14 showings. They lie second in the standings with 32 points.

Bendals, who have played only 11 times, are third on 30 points and three adrift of leaders, Garden Stars, who have also played 13 times.

Also in Zone B, English Harbour crushed 5P’s, 7-0, in their clash on Tuesday.

Allan Martin scored twice, netting in minutes nine and 31, while there were single conversions from Xavier Richards, Nigel Graham, Antoniel Campbell, Wayne Phillip and Errol DeCastro as the former top flight champions move to 31 points and fourth in the standings.

5P’s are 10th in the 14-team standings with 12 points.

Still in Zone B, Real Blizzard were 4-0 winners over Freeman’s Village Scorpions with goals coming from Millique London, Karl Hampson, Jaharie James and Ian Eusebe. The victory pushes Blizzard to 20 points from 14 fixtures.

In other matches played on Tuesday, Urlings defeated Master Ballers, 3-0, while ABAYA beat Glanvilles, 2-0.
