Fearless Crew stun Coolers, Gunners trounce Daggers

Newly promoted team, Ramco Medicare Fearless Crew 1, got off to a great start in Division Two of the Antigua and Barbuda Basketball Association (ABBA) tournament, upsetting former champions, Ottos Coolers at the Fort Road basketball court.

The 58-45 victory saw Joel Christian lead the victors with 17 points and 12 rebounds.

He was assisted by Hanson Richards who netted 12 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.

National junior player, Lincoln Weekes, was the lone player in double figures for Coolers, scoring 24.

Fearless Crew 2 however did not follow in the same steps as the Second Division team as they went under to Ottos Matthew’s Vikings 55-39.

Despite a 12-point, nine rebounds effort by Ryan Sheppherd, Fearless Crew 2 could not secure their first win in the Third Division encounter.

Vikings’ Shemar Joseph was the leading scorer with 17 points and five steals while teammate Jaheem James sank 16.

Meanwhile, at JSC, Max Fernandez Gunners trounced Curtain Bluff Old Road Daggers, 62-49 while newbies, Dream Chasers, defeated JJ United, 77-49.

Olivee’ Morris led Gunners with 20 points with assistance from Keddy Martin who made 18, while for Daggers, Kevin Cornwall had 15 points and Ariel Quallis 13 in the Division Two match-up.

Dream Chasers’ Kenrick Evans had a game-high 22 points, while teammate Jesus Lopez netted 19, grabbed six rebounds and recorded six assists and nine steals.

Braulio Estrada also of Dream Chasers contributed scoring 14.

Neville Chambers had 17 points and 11 rebounds for United.

Reon Garett also got in on the action making 10 points and snatching eight rebounds.
