Lindsay dethrones Pennyfeather in OSA Wellness Fitness Challenge

AUA coach and instructor, Vernon Lindsay PhD, is the 2024 reigning OSA Wellness Champion and Fitness Challenge after dethroning 2023 winner, Ken Pennyfeather when the event was held on Whit Monday, starting and ending at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium.

Pennyfeather, a former national footballer turned FIFA referee, had to settle for second place with fellow FIFA referee Wasnah Barnard finishing third.

In the female category, Nikisha Gage retained her title and has been unbeaten for the past two years. Yolanda Joseph finished second and Kevina Francis finished third. 

Meanwhile, in under-17 category, Twelve-year-old Malique Isaac emerged as the winner. 

In the women’s walking category, Sharon Henry of Torturer Gym claimed the top prize and was followed by Malverine Williams in second place and Orlando Small in third. 

Tiyarni Mullian won the men’s equivalent with Casford Pelle and Andre Brown finishing second and third respectively.

The accolade for the largest group went to Torturer Street Hikers with a 20 strong contingent followed by Curtain Bluff with 13 participants and Unicomer with nine participants. 

The cash prize went to Shaquille Sylvester as the weightiest athlete to complete the challenge. 

Close to 100 participants took part in this year’s event.
