Rubis Caribbean, working through its partners, Friends of Mount St John’s Medical Centre, officially presented Mount St John’s Medical Centre (MSJMC) with two patient monitors valued at almost EC$15,000 for the emergency department.

In making the presentation, Rubis Country Manager, Raphaelene Jackson, said, “We are always looking for opportunities to give back to the society and so we are very happy to partner with an organisation like Friends of MSJMC who continuously do good work – and of course, the hospital which is the lifeblood of the people in Antigua and Barbuda. It is really critical to ensure that the hospital staff have the necessary equipment to do their jobs well.”

“We are very pleased to be associated with Rubis,” said Dwayna Derrick, President of Friends of MSJMC.

“They reached out to us and asked how they could help – what was needed by the hospital. At the time, monitors for the emergency department were a priority. The majority of the funds used to make the purchase was donated by Rubis. I hope that this is the beginning of a partnership between Rubis, Friends of MSJMC and the hospital.”

The donated EDAN iM50 patient monitors provide continuous cardiac monitoring and are an important tool in the clinical assessment of patients with a variety of conditions. The monitor measures, records, distributes and displays combinations of biometric values such as heart rate, oxygen saturation, blood pressure, temperature and more.

“In the emergency department we work around the clock to provide excellent care,” said Annemarie Bridgewater, MSJMC departmental nurse manager for the emergency department.

“This donation will help us to build our capacity to continue to deliver the care that is expected by the people of Antigua and Barbuda. We are sincerely grateful to Rubis and Friends of MSJMC for this timely donation.”
