Golfers Excel At ECGA Tournament

Team Antigua and Barbuda finished atop the table in the gross competition at the ECGA tournament held in St Lucia.

Antigua and Barbuda were gross combined winners in the Eastern Caribbean Golf Association Championships held in St Lucia over the weekend, after finishing with a total par score of 177.

Hosts St Lucia with a score of 181 and St Kitts with 260 were second and third respectively. St Croix (272), Martinique (293) and St Maarten (481) were fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.

Team Antigua and Barbuda were led by the women who shot a combined gross score of 54 to claim their category ahead of St Croix (78) and Martinique (102), who were second and third respectively.

Andreina De la Cruz shot a gross of 25, Lexi Hunt with 30 and Akevia Warner with 32, dominated the ladies’ division to finish in positions one, two and three respectively.

Team Antigua and Barbuda also found success in the Super Senior category with Wesley Dyer heading the list with a gross score of 30. Vere Ambrose finished fifth with a score of 44. McHale Andrew of St. Lucia finished second with 31 while Kent Glace, also of St. Lucia, was third with 32.

Dion Massiah recorded the country’s best finish in the Senior category with a gross score of 15 to finish fifth while Eldine Baptiste, former West Indies player, was joint seventh place finisher with a gross of 27.

In the men’s category, Demar James finished second with a gross of 13 while Paul Michael and Wilston Charles were sixth and seventh respectively with scores of 16 and 22.

Team Antigua and Barbuda were scheduled to arrive home on Monday afternoon.
