Defending Champions Liberta Blackhawks, New Winthorpes Lions and Jennings Tigers won all their matches over the weekend in commanding fashion along with fifth place Rising Sun Spartans who achieved the same feat in the Antigua and Barbuda Cricket Association’s Super 40 Cricket Competition. Here are the results for round six of the competition.

Liberta Blackhawks 266 for 3 | Combined Schools 112 all out

A 191-run partnership between Michael Greaves (100*) and Elroy Francis Jr (97) assisted the Blackhawks to reach 266 for three from their 40 overs to register their fifth win of the season, beating the Combined Schools by 154 runs. Combined Schools in return were bowled out for 112 with player/coach and former West Indies Captain, Sylvester ‘Bouncing’ Joseph coming out of retirement to top score for the school side. The pick of the bowlers was Ephraim Pollard who picked up five for nine runs.

Empire Nation 118 for 7 | New Winthorpes Lion 119 for 2

With rain putting a damper on most matches, New Winthorpes took advantage of the conditions winning the toss and sending the Nation to bat first. With 20 overs to bat, Empire were restricted to 118 for seven with both Justin Athanaze and Kershaski Jno Lewis scoring 28. Nino Henry picked up two for 20 while Zavear Otto had two for 24. The Lions got to the target with two overs to spare on the back of a solid 83-run partnership for the first wicket between Asher Cornelius (34) and Bartlette Henry (47). The win keeps the Lions stationed in second place after six rounds.

Jennings Tigers 187 for 7 | All Saints Pythons 86 all out

Posting 187 for seven from 39 overs in another rain affected match, Jennings Tigers beat All Saints Pythons by 106 runs via the DLS Method. Bowling for the Pythons, Kadeem Josiah had two for 29 and Emroy Lee two for 50. The total proved to be too much for the Pythons as they were bowled out for 86 in 19.1 overs. Williams had four scalps for 18 runs, Zavier Freeland three for 24 and Morton Browne two for 15. The victory keeps them in third place with three rounds to go.

Rising Sun Spartans 186 all out | CUB Bethesda Golden Eagles 102 for 8

The Spartans copped the weekend off with another smashing win beating Bethesda by 62 runs via the DLS Method. Sent in to bat first, the Spartans got off to another flyer with the impetus being provided by Shane Burton again. He smashed four fours and two sixes in a 38 ball 48 while Kerry Mentore had 27. Leeward Islands Under 15’s all-rounder Tayari Tonge picked up three for 23 while James Cornelius had three for 50. He then returned to top score with 26 as Bethesda only got to 102 for eight when the rain intervened for the last time. Spartans lie in fifth place on 14 points with three rounds left to go.
