The government has promised that the cost of take away food will not increase as a result of the country  banning Styrofoam.

Minister of Health, Molwyn Joseph said taxes on food containers made of alternative material will be waived, making the cost to import environmentally friendly containers the same as Styrofoam.
“I have been advised by the very importers that if the tax is eliminated and they are able to bring in the biodegradable containers and cups…the cost would basically be the same. That was confirmed in one of our consultations,”Joseph said.
Environmental Implementation Officer, Indira James explained the three-phase process that will take effect when the Styrofoam ban is put in place on July 1.
