The alleged theft of several lottery tickets from a Caribbean Lottery booth is under investigation following a report of the incident, which is said to have occurred between December 24, 2018 and January 14, 2019.

According to sources close to the probe, it was reported to police on Monday that the lottery tickets and a monitor that generates the numbers for other lottery games were stolen from the booth on High Street and Corn Alley.

The specific type of lottery game and number of tickets that were stolen – as well as their value – remained unknown up to last evening. It is unclear if the lottery company can track the tickets to ensure no one cashes them, should they return winning numbers.

Based on the findings of the investigation so far, someone pried open a door leading into the office and, once inside, stole the items. The perpetrator(s) exited via the same door.

The police Forensics Investigation Unit is looking into the matter, while closed circuit television (CCTV) footage from the area is being gathered for review.
