Barbuda to welcome hundreds for homecoming

Hundreds are expected back in Barbuda for a reunion starting on Saturday.

The Barbuda Rising Homecoming event, which culminates on Friday July 27, will see residents of the sister isle returning from several countries.

Committee member Darleen Beazer provided details.

Beazer says arrangements have been made to accommodate the influx of people, including a tent city.

The homecoming events will include a clean-up, pap or porridge night, concert, a panel discussion on Barbuda’s history and consultations on the people’s vision for the sister isle.

There will also be added transportation to ferry people between islands.

The organisers are hoping that the event could be biannual.
