“Despite regularly communicating with the general public in my professional role, speaking to medium and large audiences was an idea I dreaded. As I elevated within my career, the urgency for developing advanced public speaking skills, became more evident,” Malaeka Goodwin says.
“Thereafter, I joined the Antigua Toastmasters Club with intentional tunnel vision to improve my public speaking skills. Toastmasters, however, offered me versatile, valuable experiences through mentorship and leadership opportunities that have improved my critical thinking, organisational and team-building skills.
“Today, not only have I comfortably hosted multiple meetings and contests, but I have drastically improved my time management, planning and implementation skills in my dual roles of treasurer of the Antigua Toastmasters Club and area secretary for Antigua and Montserrat.
