Warriors and Spanish Heat blaze their way to comfortable wins in Division Two Basketball

Lava Smoke Shop Ottos Warriors and Spanish Heat were victorious on Saturday night in the Antigua and Barbuda Basketball Association’s Division Two at the JSC Sports Complex.

Ottos Warriors beat Rebels in the first match 88-75 as Lincoln Weekes top-scored with 29 points for the Warriors.

He was well supported by teammates Michael Barton who had 19 points and 25 rebounds, while Ariel Quallis had 17 points with 15 rebounds.

Shooting for Rebels were Buell Henry who had 21 points and 11 rebounds and Ryan Noel who had 17 points with 11 rebounds.

The Warriors won the first two quarters 27-17 and 28-25.

Rebels were able to limit the offensive of the Warriors and outscored them 19-14, but lost the final set in reverse order 14-19.

The final match of the evening saw the Spanish Heat burning the wings of the Flyers winning 95-82 as Ishmael Palemo and Jesus Emmanuel scored 31 points each with 11 and 15 rebounds respectively; Rohland Hamilton had 17 points with 13 rebounds.

For Flyers, Sadiq Phillip scored 19 points with 11 rebounds, Harry Rashawn had 16 points with 12 rebounds, and Javonte Daley had 12 points with eight rebounds.

In the first quarter, Flyers won 26-23 but lost the second set 10-19. They then bounced back to win the third set 23-17, as the teams were levelled 59-59 heading into the fourth quarter.

 They were absolutely flummoxed when their opponents rallied to score 36-23 to claim victory in the final quarter.

It was the Flyers first loss in Division Two after eight outings.
