Three Antiguans named in Leeward Islands Female Under 19s

Three Antiguans were named in the Leeward Islands Female Under 19 Team that is currently in Trinidad getting ready for the Cricket West Indies Rising Stars T20 Competition which bowls off on today, July 2nd.

On the team is hard hitting all-rounder Kimberly Anthony, Sheanna Wallace and Courtney Browne.

The team will be captained by West Indies Under 19 bowling all rounder Jahzara Claxton as Anthony will serve her as deputy.

A squad of 21 players were chosen from different islands from inside and outside of the Leeward Islands to take part in the training camp from the 15th to 28th June in Nevis, where two practice matches were also played.

The final team was selected on the 25th June and will feature two players from the USA and two from Bermuda.

The team will be coached by Pernel Waltey and Percy Daniel and will be managed by Sharlene Martin.

Observer Media spoke with the Manager regarding the preparations of the squad and she exclaimed that it was hectic trying to manage the squad over the two week period, but was thankful that the coaches were able to achieve much in the little time they had to prepare for the tournament.

The team will play their first match on Tuesday against the Windward Islands.
