Antigua and Barbuda took home the bronze medal as the curtains came down on the first ever Pride of the Caribbean Under-17 Boy’s Football Invitational on Saturday here in Antigua.

The home team defeated Grenada in 8-7 in penalty shootout after drawing the game 2-2 on Saturday afternoon at the ABFA Technical Center.

This is the second third-place finish for the twin-island nation in recent football competitions as the female iunder-14 football team placed third in the Jewels of the Caribbean tournament last week.

That competition was also held at the technical center.

The overall competition was however won by St Lucia who defeated St Vincent and the Grenadines 5-3 in penalty kicks after drawing the match 1-1.

St Lucia finished undefeated in the contest, winning two and drawing one of their three matches.

The champions also walked away with two of the four individual awards — Most Valuable Goal-keeper, D’Andre Tisson, and Most Valuable Defensive Player, Taye Peter.

Most Valubale Midfielder and Most Valuable Offensive Player went to St Vincent and the Grenaddines’ Imani Miller and Isiah Charles.

Antigua and Barbuda, Grenada, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines and Grenada participated in the tournament.
