Strictly Business and Enforcers get convincing wins in softball cricket

Rackaman Construction Strictly Business recorded a convincing 10-wicket victory over Lee’s Landscaping 300 when they clashed in the Antigua and Barbuda Softball Cricket Association (ABSCA) Myron “Percy” Phillip 20/20 League on Sunday.

Batting first, 300 could only post 69 for four in their allotment of 20 overs. Kennedy Tonge had the top score of 28 not out. Bowling for the victors, Kerry Mentore claimed one wicket for eight runs in four overs.

Mentore then returned with the bat, hitting 38 not out to guide Strictly Business to 72 without loss in just 5.5 overs. He was ably assisted by Raymond Leadette who made 32 not out.

Also, AUA Cool & Smooth PMS made light work of Cracker Jack to win by 140 runs.

Batting first, PMS amassed 192 for six in 20 overs with Julian Charles hitting 54 and Jason Degees reaching 53 not out. There were runs as well from Jermaine Williams who made 32. Steve Kimon was the pick of the bowlers for Cracker Jack, claiming three wickets for 52 runs in four overs.

Cracker Jack failed to impress in their chase when their turn at the crease arrived, managing only 52 for five in their 20 overs. Kenny Benjamin had three wickets for six runs in four overs and Nicholas Thomas snatched two for 22 in four overs bowling for the victors.

In other matches, Wadadli Events Services Old Road defeated Dredgers by 40 runs and Brysons Shipping & Insurance Bullets defeated Flyers by 99 runs.

Meanwhile in the Sharon Joseph 20/20 League, also sponsored by Rackaman Construction, Sagicor Life Enforcers beat Potters Uprising by nine wickets.

Batting first, Potters Uprising made 62 before they were all out in 19 overs. They were led by Rachael Greaves with 13 runs. Sharon Francis was the pick of the bowlers for the victors with two wickets for six runs in four overs. Gaynell O’Garro also did well with the ball, claiming two wickets for 14 runs in four overs.

When their turn at the crease arrived, Enforcers got to 67 for one in just 10 overs. Sacha Michael top scored with 35 not out. Enforcers is sponsored by Foster Jonas, Fabtech Machine Shop and Harley’s Maintenance. 

In the other women’s contest, Female Flyers had the better of Brysons Shipping and Insurance Bullets by 23 runs.
