Local disc jockey Rasdolvon Phillip – more popularly known as “Shatta Ratta”, of Martin’s Village – was remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison (HMP) after he appeared in court to answer gun-related charges yesterday.
On Wednesday, the police charged Phillip with shooting with intent to murder, possession of a .45 pistol and possession of five .45 rounds of ammunition, based on allegations that he shot a fellow villager on May 13th.
It is alleged that on the day in question, Phillip was involved in an altercation with 19-year-old Devonte Harris while they were at a bar in Martin’s Village.
The incident turned extremely violent as Phillip allegedly shot Harris in the upper body.
Phillip was however arrested by police that same night, while Harris – who underwent emergency surgery – is said to be recovering in hospital.
Phillip’s committal date is set for September 10th.
