Former Olympian Samantha Roberts finished second in heat three at the ongoing FINA World Short Course Championships in Abu Dhabi.

Roberts finished in a time of 28.36 seconds, behind Aruban Elisabeth Timmer (27.58) in the women’s 50m butterfly on Saturday.

Despite her commendable performance, the two-time Olympian’s time did not place her in the top 16 qualification spots.

She will however turn her attention to the women’s 50m freestyle on Monday.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, Bianca Mitchell finished sixth in her 400m freestyle heat in a time of 4:37.56.

Also competing on Monday is Olympian and former sportsman of the year Stefano Mitchell in the men’s 100m freestyle, his final individual event of the competition. Mitchell, on Friday, finished in a time of 1:53.68 in the men’s 200m freestyle.

Jadon Wuillez will also return to the pool in his final individual event on Monday in the men’s 50m breaststroke.

Wuilliez, despite a confident showing in heat two of the men’s 100 breaststroke, did not advance to the semi-final stage.

The quartet also took to the pool on Friday and Saturday in the mixed 4x50m freestyle and the mixed 4x50m medley.

On Friday, the quartet finished in a time of 1:39.91 in heat three of the 4x50m freestyle to finish seventh.

They however bettered that performance a day later in the 4x50m medley finishing third in their heat in a time of 1:50.58. They however did not earn a qualification spot.

The team is coached by Wayne Mitchell with Melanie Wuilliez as the team’s manager.

The championships run from December 16-21.
