Roadworks contractor gets ultimatum: Finish the project by Christmas or you’re gone

The working relationship with the Bahamas Hot Mix (BHM) company and the Government of Antigua and Barbuda could come to a premature end as the Minister of Works said that the latter party will fire the contractor for the Road Rehabilitation Project if it does not complete the project by year-end.

BHM was contracted to build the new airport runway on Barbuda and construct several roads on Antigua since 2017, but has been in dispute with the government over getting an extension to the contract.

However, Lennox Weston said he believes that the government was short-changed by having a contractor that has not performed and was not equipped to handle the two projects and therefore will have until Christmas to pull up its socks.
