Prime Minister Gaston Browne promised that he and the other leaders in Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) will provide tangible support to St. Vincent and the Grenadines as the country prepares to sit as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).

Speaking at a press conference following a meeting of the OECS Authority at the Royalton Hotel, Director General of the OECS, Dr. Didacus Jules said other sub-regional governments “are minded” to help St. Vincent and the Grenadines after St. Lucia’s Prime Minister Allen Chastanet told the OECS Assembly that his country would help fund additional staffing for St. Vincent and the Grenadines’ office at the UN.

“Yesterday at the Assembly, Prime Minister Allen Chastanet indicated that St. Lucia is willing to provide funds to St. Vincent to support the expansion of the staffing of that [UN] office, so they can adequately rise to the challenge,” he said. “Now, all of the governments are now minded to provide whatever support to St. Vincent.”
