Action continued in Division 2 of the Antigua and Barbuda Amateur Volleyball Association’s (ABVA) female competition on Sunday with wins for Starz 2 and Paragons 2 at the body’s indoor facility located at the YMCA Sports Complex.
Contesting the first match of the double-header, Starz 2 enjoyed a comfortable 3-1 sets triumph over Dynasty Queens. Starz claimed the first two sets 25-13 and 25-11 before Queens rebounded to take the third set 25-15. Starz however wrapped up the contest with a 25-18 victory in the fourth set.
Meanwhile, Paragons were also 3-1 winners over Da Squad when they met in the feature contest.
Paragons won the first two sets 25-23 and 25-16 before Da Squad clinched the third set 26-24. Paragons however rebounded to claim the fourth and decisive set, 26-24.
On Saturday, Pytonz continued to squeeze the life out of their counterparts in the men’s division, extending their unbeaten run to nine wins from nine outings with straight sets victory over High Flyers, while Paragons did the same to Jets in the Division One of the Women’s Competition.
In the first match of the evening, Paragons took on Jets and beat them in a perfect game winning three nil. The encounter lasted one hour and 11 minutes, the sets were as follows: 25-19, 25-22 and 25-22.
The final match of the evening saw title contenders Pytonz beat High Flyers three nil; 25-21, 25-21, and 25-19 in an hour and 16 minutes. They were able to get the maximum points and move to 40 points in the standing, while defending Champs, Stoneville, are placed second on 34.
