Peters Claim Competitive Elite Division While Browne Dominates Junior Class of Cycling’s Season Opener

The Elite Class of the Antigua and Barbuda Cycling Federation’s (ABCF) season opener came down to an exciting sprint finish with Delvin Peters, Newell Mack and Marcos Ozuna all of Team Pillars Cycling, finishing first, second and third respectively.

Peters clocked 1:05:00.44 to cross the finish line just 01.14 seconds ahead of Mack who finished in 1:05:01.58 in second. Their teammate, Ozuna, rode in at 1:05:01.88 to finish third in the competitive ride.

Team Terminix’s Conroy Thomas finished fourth in a time 1:05:07.20 while Omari King (1:08:27.60) and Cosmos Richardson (1:08:28.66) both of Team Viper, were fifth and sixth respectively.

Tahje Browne, fresh off his win in the 10th Edition of the Warm Up Race 2024 in Aruba last weekend, was dominant in the Junior Male Division, clocking 1:03:23.45 to claim the win for Wadadli Cycling AC. Jomari King (1:04:46.35) and Aiden Tonge (1:05:00.23) both of Team Viper, were second and third respectively.

Action was also hot in the Masters Division with Jason Adams dominating the field, clocking 1:05:44.08 to finish almost three minutes ahead of second placed Tiziano Rosignoli (1:08:26.25) of Road Runners Cycling Club. Adams rode as an Independent.

Vaughn Gomes of Andre Simon Cycling Club, grabbed the other podium spot, clocking 1:10:48.84 to finished third.

Meanwhile, Independent rider Brent George pedaled his way to a first place finish in the Sports Class, finishing in a time of 1:14:45.29 while Tacuma Davis (1:21:14.30) of Road Runners Cycling Club and Miguel Williams (1:25:58.57) who rode as an Independent, were second and third respectively.

Elite Thomas (55:17.04) and Jaheal Lewis (1:03:54.76), both of Team Viper, were first and second in the Cadets Class.

Team Viper’s Telesha Choy was the lone female competitor in the event. She registered a time of 1:17:39.39 to claim the prize.
