Ovals keep on winning

Former champions F and G Trading Cuties Ovals Ojays extended their winning streak to 12 straight games as they picked up yet another victory on Thursday night at the JSC Sports Complex, trouncing Yorks Crushers, 109-70.
The Antigua and Barbuda Basketball Association (ABBA) Division One match-up saw national player, Devorn Benjamin, lead the Ojays to a 12-1 record as he sank 33 points and grabbed six rebounds.
Brothers Mahijah and Mario Davis, both of Ovals, assisted as Mahijah netted 14 points and eight rebounds and Mario, 13 points, nine rebounds and six assists.
Teammate and former national player, Marlon “Buju” Charles contributed scoring 12 points and making nine assists.
Crushers’ Cohen DeSouza had a game high 37 points and 13 rebounds while teammate, Nigel “Snarks” Joseph had 10 points in a losing effort.
Crushers, who handed the defending champions, H.U.F. Baldwin Braves their sixth loss of the season now, extended their losing streak to two games.
They now hold a 5-8 record.
The defending champions were also back in action on Thursday and back to their winning ways defeating Ottos Full Throttle, 73-56.
Xavier “Xman” Meade, 2017 playoffs MVP, led the charge for the champions with 23 points and 12 rebounds.
He was assisted by captain and national player, Lennox “Termite” McCoy who had 15 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and four steals.
CBA player, Isaac Bragg netted 26 points for Full Throttle with assistance from Shawn “Gizmo” Williams who sank 11, grabbed seven rebounds and made four assists and four steals.
Braves now hold a 6-6 record while Ottos continue on their dismal fall with a 3-9 record.
Games will continue tonight in the first Division as LJ Northside Stingerz will face Ottos Full Throttle at 6:45 p.m. while at 8 p.m. HomeTech Systems Outlaws will battle Flyers Basketball.
Both games will be played at the JSC Sports Complex.
