Defending Antigua and Barbuda Basketball Association (ABBA) Division One League champions F and G Trading Cuties Ovals Ojays bounced back from their upsetting defeat to defending Playoff champions Flyers Basketball last Sunday to hammer HomeTech Systems Outlaws on Thursday night.
The 99-53 victory at the JSC Sports Complex saw Joshua Minner lead the charge for the victors with 28 points and 10 rebounds. But discipline seemed to be the biggest factor in the loss for Outlaws, who were left to play most of the second with only four players, as both Andrew “Puss” Venture and Jamal “Buffy” Williams were disqualified. Venture was first to be dismissed from the match as he received two technical fouls for indecent language, while Williams gained a straight ejection after spouting disrespectful words to the referee.
Outlaws’ Ishaan Peets had 25 points while teammate Michael Xavier (who also left the game, but due to injury) netted 12 points and grabbed nine rebounds in a losing effort. Captain Bryan “Hollywood” Matthew assisted with 18 points, nine rebounds and five assists for the Ojays. National junior players Sheldon Gomes Jr and Alexis Jackson also scored within double digits as Gomes had 13 points and six assists while Jackson contributed with 12 points, 17 rebounds and four block shots. Skipper, Marlon “Buju” Charles chipped in, scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds
