Justin Simon was enjoying a refreshing beverage when he learned that he had won the Lucky Pick jackpot from the Caribbean Lottery website. He was so excited that he upended his drink over his winning ticket bought at the Antigua Lottery Office.
“I was really surprised. I feel good, good, good,” said Mr. Simon, whose Quick Pick buy won him $143,000.
A regular player of several Caribbean Lottery games, Lucky Pick is his favourite. “I love it,” he declared. Mr. Simon wrote the numbers down and was having a drink when he checked the ticket against the numbers – resulting in the mishap.
Ms. Paula Williams, Site Operations Manager at Caribbean Lottery congratulated the happy winner, observing: “We are so glad that Mr. Simon’s ticket remained intact!” She reminded players: “When you have bought a Caribbean Lottery ticket, please make sure you keep it safe and dry.”
Ms. Williams pointed out that, although players cannot purchase tickets over the Internet, the Caribbean Lottery website is updated continuously throughout the day, every day of the week. Winning numbers, jackpot information and prize pay-outs are updated as soon as the results are officially declared.
Mr. Simon plans to deposit his winnings in the bank until he figures out what he wants to do with it. Meanwhile, he has some simple advice for Caribbean Lottery players and potential winners: “Take a chance!”
The Caribbean Lottery, which operates in five Caribbean countries, gave out over US$5 million in prizes between July and December, 2018.
