A 27-year-old man charged with shooting a 19-year-old on Sunday morning has been remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison.

It is said that Brandon Murphy shot Jhonte Meade in his thigh with the intention to kill him on June 26.

The alleged incident occurred around 5.50am near the Diamond Edge Night Club.

According to reports, the defendant got into an argument on Lower All Saints Road, drove off in his car, turned around and then fired a shot in the direction of the complainant.

Shortly after the incident, Murphy was taken into custody by the police for questioning.

Police reportedly found gunshot residue on Murphy’s person and in his car.

Murphy made his first appearance in the St John’s Magistrate’s Court yesterday before Magistrate Conliffe Clarke.

The magistrate did not have jurisdiction to grant him bail. Instead, he was remanded pending his committal hearing on August 17.

The defendant is represented by attorney Michael Archibald.
