Jamaica –
THERE will be a 2018 Love And Harmony Cruise, based on positive response to its maiden sail, co-promoter DJ Jabba told the Jamaica Observer.
A diverse dancehall/soca cast were on the February 27-March 3 event which made stops in Miami and Ocho Rios.
“The cruise was an absolute success! My partner Joey Budafuco and I were overwhelmed with all of the patrons who made deposits for the Love and Harmony Cruise 2018, without even knowing the dates or the headliners,” said Jabba.
Headliner Beres Hammond, Wayne Wonder, LUST, Elephant Man, I Wayne, Third World, and soca star Edwin Yearwood were some of the acts on the Love And Harmony Cruise. Jabba said they all delivered outstanding performances.
“Beres Hammond was phenomenal and unforgettable. Everyone in the crowd was singing along. Definitely gave me chills,” he said. “LUST’s performance was neck and neck to Beres, they made the crowd go wild,” he related.
Jabba and Budafuco have strong credentials in dancehall circles. The former has been a disc jockey on New York radio station Hot 97 for years alongside Bobby Konders.
Budafuco is a show promoter. His productions include the annual Best Of The Best event in Miami.
According to Jabba, the cruise was 90 per cent booked with most of the fans Jamaicans who live in the United States. There was Caribbean presence from The Bahamas, Bermuda, Haiti and Guyana. Fans from Canada, Nigeria, and Australia also made the trip.
The Love And Harmony Cruise is the latest reggae gig on the high seas. The Four Seasons Party Cruise, which covers several Caribbean islands, celebrated its 20th anniversary in November.
Also in December is Welcome To Jamrock, promoted by the Marley family.
