After much deliberation and processing, former senator Colin James has officially been appointed as the Commissioner of Sports.
This was confirmed by the Minister responsible for Sports, Daryll Matthew, who spoke briefly concerning the matter on the Good Morning JoJo Sports Show.
Matthew went into some detail on what role James will play and plans that are to be put in place with his new appointment.
“Colin James’ role really is to continue to support the sporting activities of the Ministry and to help to build a better bridge between the national associations and the ministry here in Antigua.
“We are looking at how we can really institutionalise better the programmes that are in the Ministry of Sports – primarily the school programmes – to come up with a better and effective student athlete at the end of the day. Colin has been on task with that activity and he is on the job and I know he has started his work,” Matthew said.
