KINGSTON, Jamaica, May 20, CMC – Arrangements are now being made to take two Haitians who came ashore in the eastern parish of St. Mary on Friday, to court.
According to the police, the two men were spotted off the coast of the Pagee Fishing Village in the parish.
They were rescued by fishermen who then pulled the boat ashore and called the police and a medical team.
Shortly after their arrival, the men were taken to hospital and placed in quarantine.
“They were given preliminary checks at hospital , they were properly assessed and they have been released in our custody. We hope that by Tuesday, they will go to court where the deportation proceedings will commence,” said Superintendent Fabian Farquharson in an interview with Radio Jamaica.
The arrival of the Haitians in Jamaica follows the apprehension of over   50 Haitians in the eastern Bahamas earlier this week.
