The Antigua and Barbuda delegation who met with the Carnival Cruise Corporation yesterday, revealed that though they had positive discussions, both parties are looking forward to another meeting scheduled for some time next week.

According to a release from the Office of the Prime Minister, a high-level delegation of the Antigua and Barbuda government met with representatives of the Carnival Corporation – operator of nine cruise lines – at its Miami headquarters.

The government reported that the second meeting with Senior Executives of the Corporation will allow for the development of an agreement based on understandings that came out of the meeting held yesterday.

The report further stated that both sides are very optimistic about future relations, concerning how a mutually beneficial relationship between the cruise corporation and Antigua and Barbuda can be strengthened.

The meeting was held as a result of the Carnival Cruise Line’s recent announcement which detailed the cancellation of cruise calls for four of their cruise ships scheduled to visit Antigua from November 2019 through April 2020.
