Prime Minister the Hon. Gaston Browne has appointed Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party candidate in the recently held by-election in the St. Mary’s South constituency Dwayne George as Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance, Corporate Governance and Public Private Partnerships.
Dwayne Georg, who was a former senator before the recently held by-election lost to the Opposition United Progressive candidate Kelvin Simon, however Prime Minister Browne said that with only a few short months of being selected as his party’s candidate, his performance in the by-election was phenomenal and his party celebrates what he was able to achieve.
“Senator George has demonstrated that he has the ability to produce for the people and he is highly qualified to take up the position of Minister of State in the Finance Ministry. We look forward to working with him in this new capacity,” said Prime Minister Browne.
Dwayne George will be sworn in at Government House at 2:00 p.m. Thursday afternoon by Governor General Sir Rodney Williams.
