Former Parliamentarian Donald Christian has died at the age of 84. His passing was confirmed to OBSERVER media by his niece Gail Christian.
She says her uncle, who is also known as ‘D.C.’, died on March 30, which was Good Friday. He was receiving care at the Mount St John’s Medical Centre at the time of his death.
Donald Christian was the member of parliament for St. John’s Rural West for 13 years between 1976 and 1989. He represented the Antigua Labour Party.
He took the seat from Selvyn Walter of the Progressive Labour Movement in 1976 and in 1989. Then, Baldwin Spencer won the seat with the United National Development Party.
Gail Christian, who is now a senator, says her uncle was an honest and humble man with strong character. She adds that the former parliamentarian dedicated his years in office to serving the people.
