Defending champions Antigua and Barbuda Transport Board (ABTB) got off to a great start in the 2019 edition of the Cool and Smooth-sponsored Business Basketball League.
Transport Board hammered newbies Galley Bay Resort 97-41 in the feature encounter of opening night on Sunday at the JSC Sports Complex.
Kareem “Macky” Edwards led the charge scoring a career-high 52 points for the victors while teammate Bryan “Hollywood” Matthew netted 20 with six three-point bombers.
Skipper Cedric “Cornbread” Henry was the leading scorer for Galley Bay, sinking 14 points; while teammate Iba George contributed, scoring 10.
Sandals were also victorious on opening night, edging out newbies Area 51 Invaders 66-63.
Devorn Benjamin had 18 points for Sandals while Kebo Orford chipped in, netting 16 points.
Walton “Bundy” Christian was the leading scorer for Invaders, sinking 14 points; while Harry Jules, Raffique Edwards and Joel Christian all banked 11 in a losing effort.
Games will continue tonight at two venues. At the YMCA Sports Complex at 6:30 Galley Bay will battle A-Mobile while at 7:30 Eye Mobile will face Board of Education. At the JSC Sports Complex, Blue Waters will meet Dixie at 6:30 and ABTB will play Mill Reef.
