Antigua and Barbuda’s Ajani Daley was outdone by a tough field at the World Athletics Under-20 Championships being held in Cali, Colombia, just missing qualification to the semifinal round of the 100 meters event after finishing fourth in his heat on Sunday.

Competing in Heat 6, Daley clocked a personal best of 10:48 seconds to finish fourth but only the top two finishers from each heat and the best third place finisher advanced to the next round.

The race was won by Puripol Boonson of Thailand in 10:20 seconds. USA’s Micheal Gizzi was second in 10:35 seconds, while Ronal Longa was third in 10:40 seconds, taking the spot dedicated to the best third place finisher.

Daley was Antigua and Barbuda’s lone athlete at the games.
