Kennedy’s Ottos Coolers claimed their second straight Antigua and Barbuda Basketball Association (ABBA) Division two League championship on Tuesday night after winning their final game 86-80 versus Global Hawks at the JSC Sports Complex.
Coolers, after winning their final game on Tuesday, ended on a 15-3 record – identical to that of Police Vertex – but edged out the lawmen with a better head-to-head score, having beaten them by 13 clear points while Police defeated them by six.
Lincoln Weekes led the charge for the victors with a game high 40 points and five assists while teammate Israel Pulinario chipped in, netting 16 points and 14 rebounds.
Brothers Danny and Daniel Perez contributed – scoring 14 and 10 points respectively – with Danny making nine assists and Daniel six rebounds.
Hawks’ Vaughn Gomes had 36 points and nine rebounds while teammates Buell Henry and Reginald Joseph sank 17 and 13 points respectively.
Henry grabbed an additional 12 rebounds while Joseph had six rebounds and six assists.
Harold Lovell LWT Rockersville were also victorious that evening, edging out Samantha Marshall The Nest Beach Boys 79-70.
Kevin “Bun-up” Joseph led the charge for the victors with 21 points and 14 rebounds.
Former national player Walton “Bundy” Christian had 17 points and 13 rebounds, while teammates Wayne Coates and Attienne Davis had 13 and 10 points.
Brian Aaron had 23 points, 14 rebounds and five assists for the Beach Boys while teammates Tyndale Telemaque contributed, scoring 21 points and eight rebounds.
Trevor Tonge also got in on the action, sinking 10 points, grabbing 10 rebounds and making five assists.
The 2019 Division three League winners, Ramco Medicare Fearless Crew, drew first blood in their best of three series versus Big Banana Express, winning 87-35 in Ottos.
Ricky Willock had 24 points and five steals for the victors while Aleph Lapps sank 14 for Express.
Twenty-four hours earlier, F and G Trading Cuties Ovals Ojays 3 went 1-0 up in their series versus Matthew’s Ottos Viking, trouncing them 58-20.
