Young tennis stars Brasha Dyer and Sibley Charles will face off in the consolation doubles at the 2019 JITIC Caribbean tournament.
In the main draw grade 1 doubles event, Charles teamed up with Abby Candelier (Dominican Republic) to face Camila Garcia (Guatemala) /Michelle Irigoyen (El Salvador) going down in the quarter-finals 4-6, 4-6.
Despite losing that match, Charles/Candelier, according to the event rules, were automatically placed in the consolation draw.
In the consolation draw, Charles/Candelier came up against Kai Karen (Curacao)/Raquel Santos (El Salvador), defeating them 4-6, 6-1 [10-5] to advance to the finals.
Dyer teamed up with Trinidad and Tobago’s Cameron Wong but suffered the same fate as Charles, falling to Nicole Alfaro (Costa Rica)/Karen Verduzco (Mexico) 1-6, 1-6.
This loss moved them into the consolation draw to face Lerah Arroyo (Puerto Rico)/Zara Ghuran (Trinidad and Tobago) where they defeated them 6-2, 6-2 to advance.
Charles/Candelier and Dyer/Wong were expected to face off in the consolation doubles finals on Thursday, but up until press time no results were released.
