The matter involving the Police Service Commission (PSC) and former top cop Wendel Robinson has been adjourned to April 18.

Both parties appeared before the court yesterday but was pushed back till next month to allow them to discuss the settlement. They will return on the set date to report to Justice Jan Drysdale on the outcome of their discussions.

Both parties may go head-to-head once again if they do not come to an agreement, as Robinson believes he was wrongfully terminated back in 2019.

The matter could be retried after the court of appeal overruled a decision made in his favour last year.

In April 2018, Robinson was suspended by the Commission amid allegations of misconduct.

A team of investigators later served him with disciplinary charges.

Later that year, a High Court ruling had agreed that his suspension was indeed unlawful and ordered that he be reinstated and awarded costs. However, in less than a day, the Commission suspended him a second time on the basis that he was still facing disciplinary charges. Then, in November 2019, the PSC terminated Robinson’s appointtment as Commissioner of Police.

Two years later, Justice Ann-Marie Smith also ruled that the appointment of the current Commissioner of Police Atlee Rodney, was “unlawful, ultra vires, null and void” but the Court of Appeal overruled that decision in 2022.

Now, Robinson is back before the court representing himself in the trial. The attorney is also challenging his second suspension in a trial on May 16.

The PSC is being represented by Attorney David Dorsette.
